US Poll Shows That Americans Are Wary Of Health Changes
WASHINGTON- More and more Americans are voicing that they are worried about the cost and quality of medical care that will result from President Obama’s plan to reshape U.S. health care. The latest poll however, indicates that a majority still trust the administration more than Republicans in changing the system, according to a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll shows.
Senate Committee Votes Down Public Option Bill
WASHINGTON With a vote of 15 to 8, the Senate Finance Committee knocked down a proposal to create a new government health insurance plan, one that would compete with the private market.
The negative vote may be an indication of what may be expected for what is called “the public option” in the Senate overall. Although this is not an unexpected outcome it still spells a defeat for liberals who see government-sponsored insurance being made available to the middle class as a major component of President Barack Obama's health care renewal plan.
Senior Life Insurance
Senior life insurance refers to life insurance designed for people whose age exceeds a certain threshold level. The specification of that level is arbitrary. Years ago, seniority was defined as having passed 65 years of age – the age at which most people retired. Today, the christening of senior citizens occurs at age 55 – or sometimes earlier. This is ironic, because life expectancy has increased markedly even as the beginning-age of seniority has decreased.
